Imagine getting a brand-new SUV with a turbo engine and a 360-degree camera for just $6,200! That's the reality with the updated 2026 Tata Punch, proving that impressive features don't always require a hefty price tag. This facelifted model, designed for the Indian market, showcases how even entry-level cars can pack a punch.
This updated Punch gets a fresh design, more tech, and a peppy engine, all while sticking to its budget-friendly roots. The starting price of roughly $6,200 is a real head-turner, especially when you consider that the top-spec model still comes in at around $11,700.
Visually, the new Punch takes cues from the larger Tata Harrier, particularly in the front. You'll notice a split LED headlight setup and a more robust "Bull Guard Bumper" with plastic cladding and a silver skid plate.
At the back, there's a sleek "Infinity Glow" LED bar that spans the tailgate, connecting the taillights. The rear bumper has been simplified for a cleaner look. Tata has also added new 16-inch alloy wheels and four fresh exterior color options, keeping things modern and stylish.
While the facelifted Punch maintains a similar length to its predecessor, around 3,827 mm (150.7 inches), it boasts a slightly improved ground clearance of 193 mm (7.6 inches) and a respectable water wading depth of 400 mm (15.8 inches). This makes it well-suited for India's varied road conditions.
Inside, the changes continue. You'll find a 10.25-inch infotainment screen paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, and touch-friendly climate controls. The seats are now upholstered in fabric and are designed to offer more support.
But here's where it gets interesting... The equipment list includes a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, wireless charging, and an eight-speaker sound system. While advanced driver assistance systems are absent, the Punch comes standard with six airbags, and Tata continues to emphasize its strong performance in crash safety tests.
A Punchier Turbo Engine
The biggest news is what's under the hood. The updated Punch now features a turbocharged 1.2-liter engine borrowed from the larger Nexon. This engine produces 118 hp (88 kW / 120 PS) and is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox.
For those on a tighter budget, the existing naturally aspirated 1.2-liter engine with 87 hp (65 kW / 88 PS) is still available. The bi-fuel version (gasoline and CNG) has also gained an automatic option. The fully electric Punch EV is also expected to receive a facelift soon.
How Much Does it Cost?
The 2026 Tata Punch is already available for order in India. Prices start at Rs. 5.59 Lakh ($6,200) for the entry-level Base variant, while the fully loaded Accomplished+ S tops out at Rs. 10.54 Lakh ($11,700). The Punch competes with rivals like the Suzuki Ignis, Hyundai Exter, Citroen C3, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
