A Tragic Collision: Ten Lives Lost on Zimbabwe's Harare-Nyamapanda Road
A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of ten individuals on Zimbabwe's Harare-Nyamapanda Road, leaving a community in mourning. The incident occurred during the bustling midday hours near the Suswe area, as a Honda Fit carrying ten passengers en route from Mutoko to Kotwa collided head-on with a haulage truck heading towards Harare.
According to police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the crash took place at the 185-kilometre marker, with preliminary investigations suggesting that the smaller vehicle may have veered into the oncoming lane, resulting in the tragic collision. The truck, carrying four individuals, miraculously survived the accident.
This devastating event highlights the ongoing concerns regarding road safety in Zimbabwe, where traffic collisions are a leading cause of sudden death, particularly on major highways. As investigations continue, the police urge motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during the busy festive travel period, to prevent further loss of life.
